Additional Info
In the ninth grade, overcome with the doldrums of boredom, I discovered creative writing. English class forced me between high, daunting walls of strict formality that I needed to overcome, so I wove the history of the doughnut into a masterpiece that I am still proud of today. My English teacher then brought the paper back to me, telling me that I needed to write another...because she thought I had plagiarized the first one.
I took the lack of faith as a compliment to my skill! Desperately throwing myself at my writing, I squeezed the boredom out of papers about crystals, the War of 1812, and even pancakes. (Something about those breakfast foods…)
I eventually ran straight into the wall of formality. My papers no longer could be infected by the salt of twisted words and weird verbals. Seeking refuge from the war of dreary dissertations, I looked to the only thing I knew how to do, openly weep in the bathroom till I had a groundbreaking idea.
It was on that pearly throne of justice that I had my greatest breakthrough. Ever. I would fill a need. Our school had a shortage of reading material for consumption upon the man-made portal to the land of alligators, foul smells, and crime-fighting adolescent tortoises. It was then that I created the Bathroom Gazette.
Once a week, I anonymously post my writing on the restroom stall doors. Writing about school, homework, homecoming, and even veterans, I drizzle words onto my peers anonymously under the guise of their “humble editor”. Whether or not the public accepts my writing as worthy of their precious toilet time, I do not know. The one and only thing that this has revealed to me is my desire to rupture the weary walls of formality and release a rampage of ravenous entertainment.
