Community/Volunteer Involvement
1) Volunteer ESL Tutor for Catholic Charities 10th Grade-present
Through Catholic Charities, I meet each week for two hours with an Iraqi refugee family and tutor their first grade daughter in English or whichever other subjects she may need help with.
2) Days For Girls 10th grade-present
An international organization that makes menstrual care kits for girls in developing countries. My duties include sewing and cutting cloth and sorting the kits. I meet with them once a month for 3 hours.
3) Volunteer at the St. Agnes Soup Kitchen/Homeless Shelter 10th Grade On Saturday mornings, for 2 hours, I was assigned various jobs including sorting pantries, cleaning the bathrooms and living areas, and cooking food for the homeless.
4) Habitat for Humanity Club 11th Grade-present
I volunteered in numerous events that are supervised by the club’s sponsor. Although the premise of the club is to build homes, I spent around 20 hours assisting in community festivals, cleaning up and revitalizing neighborhoods, and more.
5) Volunteer ESL tutor through the American Language Center in Fez 12th Grade
I was a language partner, tutoring and conversing with Moroccan students in English for the summer of 2019 for around 3 hours each week.
6) Volunteer at Friends of the Animals Shelter 12th Grade
Once a week for one hour, I supervise and accompany dogs during their time outside.
7) National Honor Society 12th Grade
In order to reach the goal of 45 hours over the course of the year, I have volunteered at events in areas like children's museums, as well as tutored students at my high school for one hour a week.
