This past April, life in my country really changed. As the Nicaraguan population finally rebelled against all the injustices the communist government has been imposing on us, the situation became dangerous. The president began oppressing, torturing, and even killing. I found no other option but to leave the country in my senior year, pack my bags and go to live to my uncle’s house for the opportunity of having a ‘normal’ and safe life - now and in the future.

Employment History
Over the last couple of summers, I have done two internships. One at a non-profit organization (as a volunteer) that helps low-income women with breast cancer in Nicaragua. The other one was in Miami in a law firm. For both internships I was in charge mainly of administrative duties and worked for around six hours per day for four weeks.
Community Service
History
I have always been really involved with commmunity service, especially when living in Nicaragua, because of how much need there is in the country. Taking part in school clubs (as co-founder, officer, and/or member) that help non-profit organizations for different cuases: women with breast cancer and children with cancer, as well as burnt children, all unable to afford treatment.
