Education History
Graduated from South Central High School and was ranked 22nd out of 412 students with a 3.8 GPA. I then went to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke on a softball and honors college scholarship for a year and a half. I recently just transferred to Shepherd University to play softball and get a bachelors degree in recreational therapy and hopefully start a masters in business so that I can one day open a bakery that employs people with disabilities and hold classes and workshops for children with disabilities to come and learn how to safely and properly work in a kitchen while having fun creating works of art they can eat!

I am a very successful student athlete as I have managed to always keep at least a 3.5 GPA or higher throughout all of high school and my time in college. As an athlete I have been awarded many things and even hold a few softball state records from high school, as well as school records as a freshman at UNCP.

While most of my recognition has been through sports, I have done a lot of communal work throughout my life that seems to go unnoticed because of my success with sports. I have had a passion for working with those who have disabilities from the age of two as my childhood best friends, and now neighbor, has low functioning autism. I never saw him as different he was just special in his own way and I loved him for that. When I got into 6th grade I began to work as a peer-helper in our AU class as my elective and I did that every semester for 3 years straight. When I arrived in high school, there was no such thing as peer-helping and the special ed classrooms were very secluded and not by choice. From freshman year through graduation day, I worked day in and day out to fight for better conditions for those classrooms. By the time I left, I was able to start a peer-helping advanced PE class, started a club that attended Special Olympics along with the teachers so that all of the special Olympians could participate, created an annual pep rally for our special Olympians, raised money for an AU class to spend a week in Disney World, and lastly, showed the community its okay to be friends with those kids and that taking them as prom dates is the best decision you can make. I have created friendships with some of the students I have helped with over the years that will last a lifetime and though I have not been praised or awarded for my work, me knowing that I did all of that to help better our educational system and giving a voice to those who don't have one is the most rewarding thing I could have ever received.

During my lifetime I have played many different sports, including, softball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and golf. However, softball and volleyball were my two passions. I have played softball for 18 years and 12 years competitively. I have played volleyball for 9 years and 6 years competitively. Golf was something I chose to do my senior year of high school as I had to quit volleyball after my knee surgery. I will admit that I was not very good at it, however, I enjoyed getting to learn something new and I now have a new respect for a game that so many people cherish.

Spent 6 years doing field work and concessions at a local softball field. Worked 3 summers as a camp counselor for a non-profit that taught underprivileged kids how to fish, bike, swim, and learn about water pollution. Spent 3 months as a referee for competitive volleyball in Eastern NC. Worked as a camp counselor at SASI camp for a High School athletes, teaching them how to be better student athletes, better teammates, and how to be the best leaders and influences within the community. Beginning my second year as a social worker with the Autism Society of North Carolina.

Volunteered with multiple projects with Love A Sea Turtle, a nonprofit for underprivileged children. Helped set up and run recreational camps at the local softball field. Volunteered with the county Special Olympics event and did set up, clean up, worked a booth/event, and was a peer-helper. Worked a booth at our local relay for life. Participated in the set up, clean up, and a "course encourager" for the Tri-warriors youth triathlon in Pembroke, NC.
